JACQUELINE M. BRETTNER JOINS LOYOLA UNIVERSITY COLLEGE OF LAW FACULTY AS ADJUNCT PROFESSOR

BC founding partner, Jacqueline Brettner, has joined the Loyola School of Law Faculty as an Adjunct Professor of Privacy Law. She officially begins teaching in the Fall 2020 semester and will be paired with Professor Ann Koppel for the course Healthcare Privacy and Security. Throughout her career, and in particular the past decade, Jackie has developed and maintained a robust data privacy and security practice including all aspects of risk management, insurance coverage, and insurance coverage litigation. Jackie also regularly assists her clients with privacy and security risk assessments and is frequently tasked with the evaluation and preparation of internal and external privacy policies, data security and data breach policies, and employee training. She is also a regular speaker on these topics at both the local and national level. The Healthcare Privacy and Security course will cover the dramatic changes in healthcare that have taken place over the past 20 years as a result of the introduction and mass adoption of technology. The course will cover the changes and challenges in the health care system when it comes to data security and data privacy, including a detailed evaluation of HIPAA and HITECH as well as the anticipated changes resulting from the accelerated adoption of virtual medical treatment in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. "Teaching has always been a goal of mine and I'm thrilled to be joining the faculty as an Adjunct Professor of such a well thought of educational institution in the city", said Jackie Brettner.
